MIDI Control Systems for Player Pianos
By Larry Schuette

I'm just wondering if someone would write an informational post on the
advisability of installing E-valve systems and MIDI in the old player
pianos. Are there a variety of suppliers out there who should be
considered? If so, how do you know which one to consider? Also, ball
park figures on cost of these systems would be helpful.

Will these systems be reliable or will it take a rocket scientist with
proper test equipment to fix them if they fail? (I'm just thinking of
all the electronic organs that failed and no one around to repair them.)

Are these systems easy to install or do you need a degree in electrical
engineering? Is this truly the future where we will all be playing
MIDI instead of the old paper rolls?

This post by a 72-year-old player piano guy who seems to be slipping
further and further behind in this electronic age.
