Rebuilding a Pratt-Read Player Piano Action
By Clinton Gray

Good Morning, MMDers! I have started work on disassembling my 1923
Warfield player piano. The stack is a Pratt-Read, and I have run into
a difficulty with it. This morning I removed all the screws on the
front of the stack, and removed the board. I'm not sure if I've found
the valve chest, or something else.

There are 88 wooden blocks all screwed inside, and all numbered to
their corresponding striker pneumatic. I removed a few of these, and
found that there are valves on the insides of them, and paper that I
believe opens or closes the valves. It's all very confusing to explain
in an email, but if anyone knows the Pratt-Read stack and how to rebuild
it, I would greatly appreciate an e-mail! I can send pictures to show
you what I'm talking about, and hopefully it will make more sense.
Thanks in advance!
