Unforeseen Circumstances
By Bill Maguire

Tim, I "sort of" agree with you. If we (as player piano rebuilders)
are unsure about what exactly we are getting into we could and should
refer others who are more confident in these areas. On certain jobs,
I am totally certain of everything involved and I don't add on much,
if any, extra "margin for error" at all.

Some jobs are not "cut and dry" and often there is nobody else we know
of that we can rely on to help. In these instances, I know I may have
to possibly "pay _major_ dues." The good folks on MMD have bailed me
out in the past and I know I have helped others here as well. I
overestimate jobs involving Aeolian cross valves, pneumatic cloth
pouches, etc., etc. [because] now I have to possibly re-engineer or
even redo things if they don't work out.
