Carousel Music Only During Rides or Continuous
By Karl Ellison

Matthew Caulfield writes, "what carousels that you know of turn
their organ on and off during operating hours." As a child growing
up in the mid-1960s, we went to Lake Compounce in Bristol, Connecticut.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Compounce : "The
carousel was built in the mid-1890s... It was purchased in 1910 for
$10,000... The original Wurlitzer 153B band organ was refurbished in
2003, the same year the carousel was relocated to its current building."

I distinctly remember its band organ on the carousel running between
rides. When it was time to get off I recall running around to the
organ to get one last close, loud look before jumping off. The music
never ended.
