Ariston, Herophone, Ariosa Recordings Online
By Juan Alonso

Several weeks ago I wrote to the MMD explaining the project we were
working on: a method for extracting MIDI data from different disc
formats. The project, for the Spanish Biblioteca Nacional (National
Library), is now online, and you can listen to the reconstructed
recordings as follows:

    HEROPHON
        http://bdh.bne.es/bnesearch/PlayList.do?field=todos&text=herophon&showYearItems=&exact=on&textH=&advanced=false&completeText=&pageNumber=1&pageSize=1&language=es
        [ or http://tinyurl.com/l4eaklq

    ARIOSA
        http://bdh.bne.es/bnesearch/PlayList.do?field=todos&text=ariosa&showYearItems=&exact=on&textH=&advanced=false&completeText=&pageNumber=1&pageSize=1&language=es
        [ or http://tinyurl.com/klavwu4

    ARISTON
        http://bdh.bne.es/bnesearch/PlayList.do?field=todos&text=ariston&showYearItems=&exact=on&textH=&advanced=false&completeText=&pageNumber=1&pageSize=1&language=es
        [ or http://tinyurl.com/lhalpou

Please notice we are not using the original samples, but samples from a
sound library. This allows us to obtain a clearer sound, so that
researchers can focus on the melody and arrangements. The workflow is
as follows: original picture -> high contrast picture -> computer
vision algorithm -> MIDI file -> MP3 file, using a sound library.

Hope you enjoy the recordings.
