Perforated Music Media - Autotypist Paper
By Art Reblitz

In the early 1970s I bought two rolls of pre-trimmed 11-1/4-inch paper
from Otto Schulz at the American Automatic Typewriter Co. (maker of the
Auto-typist) in Chicago for my roll arranging use. He sold it in two
thicknesses. I believe Allen Ford described the thicker of the two in
his recent MMD posting. As I remember, it was excellent paper, similar
to what John Malone [Play-Rite Music Rolls] was using at the time. The
American Automatic Typewriter Co. was in business from 1932 until 1977,
and Otto Schulz passed away in June, 1992.

These two rolls probably lasted through the first 100 to 150 of my
arrangements on rolls up to 11-1/4" wide that I created on my drawing
board for customers into the early 1980s. I also remember having a
large roll of the yellow paper that John Malone was using for Play-Rite
piano rolls at the time. Most of my arranging since Op. #223 in August
1994 has been done on a computer, so I've used very little blank paper
for arranging since then.
