Outdoor Mechanical Music Statuary
By Ralph Schack

A posting by Terry Bender in the MMD of 14.12.30 requested information
about an artist capable of creating an organ grinder statue suitable
for outdoors placement.

In the early 1990s, Artist Mark Lundeen created both a life-size and a
25-inch bronze called "Monkey Business." I believe 18 of the life-size
and 36 of the small size statues were cast. One of the life-size
bronzes is installed on Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri,
and another one can be seen at Children's Hospital in Denver, Colorado:

The small bronzes occasionally come to market. Perhaps Lundeen is
aware of a life-size one that can be acquired or recommend an artist to
do another one if that's your preference.
