Raid make a wonderful product called the "Fumigator".  I found it
at Target. It's the same gas (not oil or fog) used when they tent
houses for termites.  When you set it off following the instructions
on the package, if it breathes, it's dead!  No residue or smell
remains when it's finished.

I used to manage rental property and found it useful for fleas and
roaches.  Just make sure you remember to take your houseplants outside.
They breathe, too.
