Many years ago I began using a plumber's copper elbow with two short
lengths of copper tubing inserted, one in each end of the elbow, as
a substitute for the lead elbows.  You will find they work well even
if in some cases you may need a hose clamp to seal the rubber tubing
to the copper.

The copper tube and elbow have a thinner wall allowing better flow
(i.e., less resistance to flow) and they are not a health hazard like
lead.  Additionally, they are easy to find in the local hardware store.
Plastic will also work but the wall of the tubing is thicker.
