Monetized YouTube Videos
By Gordon Stelter

Though I find some of the advertising that is attached by the
YouTube staff to publicly submitted videos unbearably repulsive
(I click it away), its presence seems to be a relatively sane
solution to the problem that Google surely faced from copyright
owners complaining about the music they had "residuals" rights
to being broadcast.

With the YouTube platform able to introduce whole new populations
to the wonderful sounds that were recorded for automatic musical
instruments (and without them having to tromp through your home
by the thousands!), I hope that the fact of these ads will not
deter anyone from thusly sharing.

Stopping the ads after a few seconds is easy (and anyhow we are
all subjected to such content these days, on YouTube or not)
whereas few are ever exposed to the superior music that we are
able to, and should, share with everyone.
