Refinishing Antique Brass
By Bruce Clark

One important point in lacquering brass is to avoid "bloom".
This happens when moisture becomes trapped in the lacquer if the
environment is cold and or damp. The brass will appear cloudy
and have a milky cast.

To avoid this, heat the brass to drive off any moisture and
apply the lacquer while the brass is fairly hot.
