John,  I'm pretty sure that the unknown brass tool is the tip of
a piano hammer "ironing" tool.  It's probably in the Schaff catalog,
although I don't have it handy to give you a part reference.  It would
be placed on an electrical heating tool similar to a soldering pencil
and used to smooth and compress the felt.  Hope this helps.
