Unknown Instrument Part
By Jim Quashnock

I recently purchased an instrument in need of restoration. Included
were a few boxes of parts. During the first inventory, I noticed an
item which just did not look like it belongs. I've completed the
restoration now, and this part is still setting in the box -- it's
definitely not part of my instrument.

I hate to just throw it away as it is a rather delicate looking geared
part that moved something. It could very well be the missing piece
you need. I simply have no idea what sort of instrument it came out
of. I am sending picture links along with this message.

The shaft is about 8" long and 3/16" diameter. The curved part is
about 2.5" diameter. The number "12" is stamped on the concave side
of the curve. There are 5 teeth on the end gear, which obviously does
not make a complete revolution but maybe 270 degrees at most. If you
know what it is and need it, please contact me.
