Passing of Luuk Goldhoorn, Musical Box Historian
By Alison Biden

As already evidenced, the community of musical box enthusiasts will
sorely miss Luuk Goldhoorn. Luuk was well known internationally by
name and reputation. He understood the priority of maintaining the
common interest, and supported The Musical Box Society of Great
Britain, both as a member and frequent contributor to its journal,
The Music Box, until the end.

His zeal for discovering original and obscure yet interesting items
was matched by his characteristic punctiliousness. He leaves behind
an impressive legacy of published work, the result of a mind imbued
with fascinated curiosity.

In addition to the many articles he wrote for The Music Box, the
MBSGB is indebted to him for his creation of the search engines
to The Musical Box Tune Sheet Book and its supplements, all Society
publications. The last of these accompanied the fourth supplement in
late 2015, the most recent to be published. In bringing the search
engines up-to-date, Luuk not only demonstrated his generosity with
his time but also his dedication to the subject.

For all his scholarship willingly shared through his many detailed
contributions, we are extremely grateful. He has significantly
enriched our knowledge, and will be deservedly remembered for long
to come.
