AutomataCon 18-20 May 2018 at the Morris Museum

minute plans now for AutomataCon 2018 at the Morris Museum.

The Morris Museum in Morristown, New Jersey is now showing (March 16 -
June 20, 2018) a special exhibition in the large main gallery entitled
"A Cache of Kinetic Art: Curious Characters," featuring the creative
energy and vitality of kineticism as expressed through the living form:
figures, be they human, animal or fantasy.  This is the first in a
four-year series at the museum, devoted to the kinetic art form.

Guinness Collection of Mechanical Musical Instruments and Automata. You'll not only experience this amazing exhibit, but be able to join people from around the world to share ideas, build relationships and grow interest in automata, new and old. The convention includes a variety of private and public programming, including: social gatherings, museum touring with gallery demonstrations, panel discussions, workshops, presentations, build your own automaton activity for young and old'er, and a special exhibition area. Highlights will include: - Greater NY area Premier showing of the new documentary: "Double Take - The Art of Elizabeth King", courtesy of producer Olympia Stone, of Floating Stone Productions - Marian van Dijk, Director of Museum Speelklok (Utrecht, Netherlands) on all things related to their upcoming exhibit "Dancing with the Droids" - Vincent Giovannoni, curator for MuCEM (Museum of European & Mediterranean Civilizations) from Marseille will speak about the "Automata & Diorama's of Souillac", there in France - Dawn Delikat, Assoc. Ed. of Pen & Brush Galleries, NYC, on period "Automata Makers - Ahead of Their Day" - John Gaughan, one of the world's foremost illusion builders, on the most legendary automaton of all time, the life-sized "Chess-Playing Turk" Admittance to much of this programming requires a ticket to AutomataCon, which can be purchased online or on-site the weekend of.
