Thank you for everyone's input on this subject and thanks to
Bruce Newman who contacted me directly with the suggestion to use the
Mobil 1 0W-40 [synthetic] motor oil.

I tried it out on a new Telektra roll I just got.  I have a special
table I built where I can unroll the brass rolls and clean them first
with naphtha to get the old gummy oil and dirt off and then give the
underside a coat of the oil.  The Mobil 1 did the job perfectly!
