Duo-Art Pianist Ruth Ferguson
By Piotr Barcz

I'm sure many of you know the Ruth Ferguson piano roll of "You
Brought A New Kind Of Love To Me", Duo-Art 0738. I've been listening
to it a bit today and I'm pretty much dead certain that it's a Frank
Milne piano roll done in the style of Pauline Alpert -- it's just
not attributed to her like other rolls Milne did when imitating her.

Attachment thumbnail The patterns of the embellishments sound like Alpert but as far as I'm aware she wasn't making rolls for Duo-Art past the late 1929 merger of Aeolian and American, and the accompaniment patterns and rhythm inversions during the tenor melody section also sound just like the ones Milne used. I'm probably going to add Ruth Ferguson to my mental list of pseudonyms Milne used at this point.
