Music Lovers Are a Rare Breed
By Tom Lear

Hi Bruce, You are not alone! We feel your pain!

It certainly can be annoying when you crank up your umpteen thousand
dollar instrument that you have possibly spent umpteen thousands of
hours making perfect, only to have some moron babbling away instead
of listening to the beautiful music.

It's the overabundance of recorded music everywhere, I believe, that
make some people just mindless of how special music can be. A good
percentage of the population, not being musicians, or otherwise really
connected to music production, just do not know how to listen to music.

I think the more musically educated you are the more you are capable
of hearing and appreciating music. I'm just a piano player myself and
even though I dearly love many types of music, I realize there's just
an incredible amount of really sophisticated stuff going on that is so
far beyond my musical understanding that I cannot really appreciate it
fully myself.

Hopefully through MMD you have some acquaintances with who you can
share the great fun of having a great instrument to play for people who
"get it" and who can really "get off on it".

Tom Lear
