Seek Audio Samples of Band Organ Pipes
By Jerry Vitale

Does anyone know if someone has made an attempt to sample band organ
pipes for digital synthesis? If anyone has or is interested would
they please contact me. Thanks,

Jerry Vitale

[ Arranger Rich Olsen discussed this topic with me several years
[ ago. One problem is to find a band organ with no pump noise
[ within the local region (to minimize travel expense), in a
[ location with no close-in echoes and no background noise. (An
[ open field on a calm day approaches the ideal.)
 [
[ Then a special music roll must be created to play each pipe
[ separately for about 4 seconds on, 4 seconds off, three times.
[ And, oh yes, obtain microphones with low distortion at high
[ sound level, and so on. So Richie continued to use mostly
[ orchestrion sound samples to make his audio audition files.
 [ I sure miss him! -- Robbie
