Re: Newsgroup or Listgroup
By Dale Dohler

I subscribe to another list, PIPORG-L (which some of you here may interested
in - deals with all kinds of organs, including theatre, and MIDI), which has
just gone through its semi-annual identity crisis. That list generates 50+
messages a day, some rather long, so it very much dwarfs this list. The out-
come of all the teeth gnashing was - leave well enough alone. Its listserv
has automatic subscription & digest generation and is basically unmoderated.
Only subscribers can post, so spamming happens very rarely.

Based on the piporg-l experiences and opinions, I also vote to keep this group
as a listserv only. Whether Jody wants to continue as moderator when the
traffic grows can be his choice; a list can function very well on autopilot
if the s/w is set up correctly, and if the subscribers use normal quantities
of common sense and decency.
