Sources of Supplies?
By Terry Smythe

About 10 years ago, work pressures forced me into a hiatus
from restoration, from which I am just now recovering. At
the time I moved away from this avocation, however temporary,
PPC was the major source of parts and supplies, with a few
other folks, like Bob Streicher, just starting to make available
limited quantities of specialized replacement parts et al.

I'm now retired and just now getting back into restoration and
would appreciate getting back up to speed on contemporary best
products and their sources. For example, I still have left
1 yard of "Bilon", a medium weight material for motors et al,
which 10 years ago I acquired from PPC. Similarly I still
have 1 yard left of extremely lightweight "Shulz" cloth, also
from PPC. I've heard via the grapevine that both of these
products are no longer available from PPC, so I'm wondering if
something as good or better might still be available from
alternate suppliers.

Has anybody developed a contemporary list of best products and
best sources, and a companion list of suppliers and the products
they make or stock?

Suggestions would be very much appreciated. Perhaps the
results could be merged into an FAQ.

Regards and many thanks for whatever help might be extended.

Terry
