Jack Conway's comments about his 3rd Edition Gulbransen Instruction
Rolls prompted me to get mine out and look at them prope rly - in the
middle of a dinner party, which caused my wife to give me some hard
looks.  But that's when I thought of it!

Anyway my set are the FOURTH edition, patented Jan 27, 1925.  (This is
just an exercise in one-upmanship!)  They are in boxes with a maroon
top and a white bottom and with a pale brown Gulbransen label.  The
rolls themselves look like Mel-O-Dee rools, with brown-painted metal
spool flanges.  The tag on the leader has the Gulbransen baby on it.

Speaking of Gulbransen rolls has anybody come across ordinary
Gulbransen music rolls?  As I have a G. upright I have always kept any
I've come across.  They seem pretty rare in Australia; I have about
six.  The label is black and white with some gold trim.  The rolls are
well arranged with printed instructions for manipulating the two levers
that put the soft pedal on in either the bass or treble - the
Gulbransen has a split hammer rest rail.
