I sent this note to Pete when I saw his intro, but with this followup
from Bob, perhaps it would be wise to mention to the list at large that
discussions of automata, old and new, including Disney-style
animatrons, is chartered and welcome in the news- group
rec.arts.puppetry. The charter for the news- group is written widely
enough to cover almost any interpretation of puppetry, and it has
occasional threads on animatronics, including a discussion a few months
ago on resources for builders. It's a low-traffic newsgroup (averages
about 5-6 messages a day) so it takes very little time to read. Any-
one wanting to start some animatronic discussions is more than
welcome.
