As I just went through the Digest, I was thinking I can't read correctly:

Well, first of all, I didn't know of any government support in the Nether-
lands for mechanical music, but that could be 'cause of the Tradition that
mechanical music -- or, more precisely, the streetorgan -- has gained.

But anyway:  How do you come across to even think it could _not_ survive
without support?  In my opinion that's complete nonsense; sorry.

Just think about this Digest: there always will be enough crazy people to
keep it up -- with _no_ support!  And, do you believe that it would have
survived up to now, if it wouldn't be at least cost-covering?

If I've been too sensible towards your question then excuse me, but
such things get me up to the roof.
