A request was made by Laurent Coray for MIDI-controlled traps for a theater organ.

Perhaps I might be able to help you.  I manufacture MIDI-controlled
Fairground Organs using 24-volt solenoids for the traps and a synthesizer
for the pipe sounds.  The organs are modular which therefore allows the
trap section to stand on its own.  Our design allows the entire trap
section to be unplugged and lifted off.  So this is what you might have
in mind for a theater organ MIDI trap section.

I can send you an organ flyer and insert any additional details you need.
The percussions included on this trap unit are: Cymbal, triangle, wood
block, two "eggz" (maracas-sounding), tambourine hit and tambourine shake,
and lastly, snare with two solenoids for reiteration (snare roll).  The
snare roll and maracas control are done electronically on our MIDI-to-
percussion converter board which does not go with the unit.  It is used
in the organ for the control of the 24-note solenoid-controlled glock.
You would have to find some way to do the roll.  (I can supply a schematic
using NE 555 timers, not too difficult a task.)

I have not considered selling the traps unit separately but will look
into this if you are interested.  If I supply the instrumentation (as
I most likely would) the cost may run into $800 to $1000.  This includes
the solid state solenoid drivers which is an integral part of the
solenoid assembly.

A 24-volt 6-amp supply for the solenoids and a 5 volt logic "1" signal
is all that is required to activate the instruments.
