Since I thought there would be many responses with the same info, so I
didn't reply to the request for a source of nickle plated wood screws.

American Piano Supply (New Jersey 800 457-4266) is a division of John
Schadler & Sons which happens to be a screw supplier.  They have steel,
brass, nickle plated brass and brass and nickle plated steel and probably
others.

They supply all the screws you would ever want to put in a piano.  You
have to buy a boxfull, which is cheap for small screws (about $3.00), but
not so cheap if you need only one 14x3.5" screw and have to buy 100.
They have a wide range of sizes (0 to 24) of round head, flat head, oval
head, and hinge screws.  They can be more than a little slow in shipping
orders, but they really do stock screws better than just about anybody.

In a pinch, it is possible to use stainless steel screws which are
available at screw stores everywhere.  When polished on a buffing wheel
it is hard to tell the difference from nickle, and they take a long time
to tarnish and don't break as easily as brass screws.
