Er, Strouds weren't ever made in England, Don. The bottom-of-range after
1927 was a very good value 80-note quasi-Steck upright called "Aeolian"
of which hundreds survive.

Then there were Steck (between 1906 and 1914, English and "Gotha" were
sold as one range, the second being the higher-quality) and Weber and the
Steinways (usually New York ones, though I've seen a few Hamburgs) fitted
by Steinway in London with Aeolian actions.

(In defiance of the agreement with Aeolian, you also get German-built
Steinway-Weltes playing red or green Welte rolls up to c1929, presumably
imported by individuals.)

A great number of British Aeolian instruments have stack date labels
under or near the motor. The only pushups we know were made in UK were
the Model U which appeared after 1920 and had small upright-size
pneumatics. Not a single one has come to light !
