PianoDisc Mission
By Philip Jamison

Yes, PianoDisc does have a religious note at the end of some of their
advertising brochures, and they do have a substantially Asian labor
force. I cannot say their employees are poorly paid, as Meta Brown
supposes, however. It seems like a good entry-level job for the
immigrant to me. The system is assembled in their Sacramento plant
rather than overseas, which is nice. Of course, a lot of components
are made in other parts of the world (we're talking computers here).

I attended a PianoDisc installer course in the factory, and was never
preached at in any way, nor was religion even mentioned. The working
conditions seemed excellent. I have dealt with the firm numerous times
since and no one has attempted to "convert" me. Therefore, I believe
that they are exercising freedom of speech, and I have no problems with
that.
