UK Auctions
By Brian Chesters

Hi all, There is an auction coming up this week in the UK, in which
there are three cylinder musical boxes, and all three are worth the visit.
I have made arrangements to attend.

There is a large cylinder box with six bells played by three painted
mandarins with hammers. Each mandarin nods his head as the cylinder
rotates. All the boxes I have seen like this have had cylinders of
about 9 or 11 inches long; however, on the photo this one looks to be
15 or 17 inches in length. The tune sheet is intact but the right hand
panel with the start/stop lever and change tune lever is missing.

There is a nice key wound Nicole Freres overture box. The comb looks in
very nice condition, however the tune sheet is missing. The final one is
a mandolin box in reasonable condition.

I will let you know what happens later this week.
