FS: Piano Rolls
By Bryan Cather

The Arlington Historical Society, in Arlington ,Texas, is paring down
its piano roll collection. Guidelines have been set up to provide a
more useful collection. Two main goals are (1) to obtain more rolls by
smaller or more obscure manufacturers, and (2) to concentrate more on
rolls related to Texas, by manufacturer, composer or artist.

With this in mind we will be going through our collection, and deciding
which rolls fit the above criteria (and certain other criteria as well).
Those that do not will be offered for sale. We have not decided on a
price per roll, but it will not be at all excessive. Most of what
will be sold are either QRS or Imperial rolls, including some waltzes,
ballads, fox-trots, religious, and perhaps some WW1 rolls. All are in
boxes (some new), all are playable. I will have a list available via fax
or snail mail on July 7. If interested, please e-mail me at my address
below.

All of the money generated in this sale will go toward obtaining music
rolls which fit the above criteria. We will consider trading for such
rolls. Also, any rolls donated to the museum in the future that do not
meet the above criteria will also be sold to fund more appropriate roll
purchases. We can use Ampico, Welte (Licensee), Recordo and the various
"snakebite" rolls in addition to regular 88-note rolls, _except_
long-playing rolls on the large flanges. These tend to ride off our
take-up spool.

Thanks,

Bryan Cather
