1912 Steinway Model B Player Piano
By Drew Taylor

A good day to all, I will be traveling round trip from Dayton, Ohio,
to Daytona Beach, Florida, around the Fourth of July weekend, and
would love the opportunity to drop in on someone who may have a
restored an operating version of our new "baby": a 1912 Steinway grand
which appears to be similar in size to a model B music room grand with
an Aeolian works. I need to see another with my own eyes.

I have read all the books I can get my hands on, including Art
Reblitz's books and can honestly say I am thoroughly overwhelmed.

Our find is a basket case: no upper mechanisms at all, severed tubing
and unidentifiable, and missing parts. Luckily the sound board is
intact and even the pin block is in reasonable shape. Although it is
cleaning up well, mechanically I am capable, just not confident. Even
if the weekend of the Fourth is not available for someone en route then
I am willing to make a special trip.

I would also be interested in taking some pictures for reference not
for publication, any help would be wonderful. Being a subscriber has
been a wonderful resource and a great inspiration, I can't wait to talk
about my great sounding and reliable instrument. Does anyone have an
opinion on the merits of becoming an RPT, maybe through the Randy Potter
School, just for the sole purpose of working on my own instrument.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Drew B. Taylor
