Hello, I just purchased a George Steck Pianola, player piano, that
plays absolutely beautiful, although, I'm sure it needs a mechanical
tune up.  I intend someday to refinish the piano casing (mahogany)
which will greatly improve its cosmetic appearance.  The tone and touch
of the piano is just unbelievable, it is in tune, plays and sounds as
good if not better than a brand new piano.  I had a player a few years
back, it wasn't old, but had problems...  and I sold it...  Anyway I
noticed a couple of differences in this particular piano, when a roll
is playing, the keys don't move, and, the tracker bar is different.
There aren't holes to keep the roll in line, but brass guides.   I'm
sure the person who was the original owner took very good care of this
piano,  as I pedaled, there was no hissing sounds denoting leaky tubes
or bellows.  I paid $1,400 for this, can you tell me if that is a good
"deal"?   Also, I would appreciate you letting me know some tips on
caring for my new purchase.   Also if you know anybody in my area that
works on players.  I live in Oxnard California, near Ventura.  Any
advice that you could send to me, would be greatly appreciated.
