Steck Pianola Key Lock

I have a Steck upright and noticed that there is a hinge on the back of
each key which prevents the keys dropping while playing.  I gather this
is an efficiency thing to assist in the attack of the notes, especially
during repetitive note playing.  To change this would require the
reconstruction of the keyboard.
