How to Pronounce "Mortier"
By Bob Conant

Dear MMDers, Having been taken to task on my suggested pronunciation
of Mortier, I sent a note to Hans van Oost and asked how it is pro-
nounced in The Netherlands and Belgium.

> In the Dutch language, which is the same as the Flemish (we under-
> stand each other perfectly, but the sounds are a bit different,
> like people from California and Texas, or London), Mortier is
> pronounced nearly as Mor-teer. The French will pronounce the name
> as Mor-tee-ay, because it is a French word as well, meaning mortar.
> I will pronounce both ways for you in Delft or Arnhem!
>
> regards, Hans van Oost

Per Hans' response I will revert to the "Mor-teer" pronunciation.
Sorry about the confusion.
