Joe Schumacher Recovering at Home
By Rick Cooley

Hi folks, Most of you know Joe Schumacher, a very important, longtime
member of the Musical Box Society International. Joe suffered a severe
stroke in October 1998, followed by a series of small strokes into
November. After months in the hospital followed by more months in
a rehabilitation facility, Joe came home several weeks ago.

Joe remains almost completely paralyzed on his right side and is in
a wheelchair. His speech and ability to concentrate have recovered
about 75% but he was at that level months ago. Joe wants everyone to
remember him "like he used to be" and is accepting no invitations
outside his home. For Joe, this is a very important time in his
recovery (which will be long and frustrating).

Joe has appreciated all the letters, phone calls (between 4 PM and 8
PM, please) and remembrances. Now that he is home, let's not forget
him. He will likely (according to the doctors) never fully recover.

Although he has had over 50 technical articles published by the MBSI,
he may never be able to do that again. His mailing address and phone
number are:

  Mr. Joseph and Lenora Schumacher
  2623 Turnstone Drive
  Wilmington , Delaware 19808
  Phone: (302) 999-9236

Regards to all,

Rick and Betty Cooley
