Yamaha Disklavier Sustain Pedal Problem
By Tom Steuer

Damon Atchison asked about the pedals of a Disklavier. My experience
is excellent -- the pedals are extremely sensitive. I use both pre-
recorded discs and discs that I have made myself from Ampico, Duo-Art,
and Welte rolls; in all instances, the recording and playback is
exactly what it should be.

It could be the program on that disc, but I suspect that it is more
likely the piano which needs some adjustment to get rid of sticking,
either in the sustain pedal itself or the Disklavier mechanism. The
available modern pre-recorded discs are generally very good in all
respects, and are very satisfying, at least to me.

Regards,

Tom Steuer
