A simple typographical error in the title of yesterday's Digest
(Thursday, 9/9/99) caused a major disaster in the generation of the
Archives of the MMD yesterday.  There was at least one suggestion that
the magic number 9/9/99 was the problem, but it was just a typo in
the date (99.09.009).  My thanks to B Bronson who observed the problem
in the Archives and reported the bug, and to Bob Fitterman who helped
me figure out how I caused it.

I'd like to encourage folks to report things that don't seem right.
I work hard at being technically clairvoyant, but bug reports help a
lot!
