Converting Pianomation CD to MIDI
By Phil Dayson

Jim Cook asked, "Is there any way to extract the information from a
Pianomation CD-ROM, say as a MIDI file?"

It's very simple if you have a Pianomation system. Feed the left
channel from the CD to the Pianomation system. On the Pianomation
system there is a MIDI out. This will convert all of the info on the
left track of the CD into a MIDI signal. This will contain all the
CD piano control info as well as any MIDI type accompaniment data.
(Remember that the QRS CD may have accompaniment data in the form of
audio, MIDI, or both.)

Alternatively, you can buy the Midiman CD keyboard player from QRS.
This will read the QRS CD left channel and send out a resulting MIDI
signal to control any MIDI piano (Yamaha, PowerRoll, etc.). Built into
the Midiman is a selectable delay circuit so that you can adjust the
time delay between the MIDI track and the audio accompaniment signal.
