Repairing Old Piano Rolls
By Karl Ellison

QRS Advocates Scotch Tape Repairs?

I received my 100th Anniversary Issue QRS catalog in the mail Saturday.
On Page 66, "Player Piano Pointers", Q&A No. 5 section answers the
question, "How can I repair old rolls," with a response of "All it
takes is patience and Scotch Magic Tape!". Indeed, their Professional
Roll Repair Kit No. 46000 includes "One roll Scotch Tape".

Does anyone else see the irony and irresponsibility in this response
from a piano roll company? Maybe the text from a recent "Ask Dr.
Duarte" column was crossed at the printers.

If QRS is reading this -- Please contact Larry Norman for suppliers of
acid-free archival tape for your kits.
