Repairing Old Piano Rolls
By Deidre Dixon

I am in the process of collecting rolls for my 1926 Chickering Ampico.
Most of them have come from eBay. For the most part they are really
in good repair, but one has a torn leader and a few others have some
frayed edges. They were titles I really wanted, but were not available
in recuts.

I would love some pointers on how to repair Ampico rolls, and what
materials are currently available. I'm assuming some sort of archival
tape, but don't know which is best, and am not sure what method would
be best for reattaching a missing leader tag. I imagine some materials
are better suited for the leader than the roll edge, and vice versa.

Also, thanks to the people who sold me panel inserts for the drawer.
They came back from the refinisher yesterday and they look and fit
perfectly.
