Many people assume when they read an article somewhere that "If it's
in print then it's got to be right."  Let's stop for a moment and
reflect on the comments made about solenoid operated player pianos.
These electro-mechanical instruments can do wonders that would make
an Ampico or Duo-Art envious, for instance:

Can an Ampico, etc., record your own playing and let you hear the
results immediately?

Can two side-by-side Ampico, etc., pianos each play back a performance
exactly the same as the other instrument?

Can an Ampico, etc., calibrate itself to compensate for changes in the
friction of the action?

The solenoid pianos made by Yamaha can do all of the above and then
some.  What the writers of previous articles fail to mention is their
ignorance about the Yamaha Disklavier.

I love old pneumatic players and have a ton of them (not bragging,
just making a point).  You don't tear down someone to make yourself
look better even it's in the name of being a critic.  I hope the
Disklavier Users Group (DUG) reads the article I am referring to,
as they have some strong opinions also.
