Mechanical Music in the Movies
By Cecil Grace

Those interested in mechanical music in the movies should not miss
"La Regle du Jeu", which can be rented in some video stores under its
English title "Rules of the Game". One of the most famous movies of
all time, it is often shown in classes on motion picture history.
And there is a lot of mechanical music.

Unfortunately the quality of the tape leaves something to be desired.
This is because the master was destroyed during World War II, and so
the tape had to be made from surviving prints, which had seen many
hours of service in movie theaters. Still, it is well worth seeing.
