Mechanical Music in the Movies
By Lee Rothrock

Many thanks to those who provided enlightening details about Trumpeter
Clocks in a previous post; now for something a bit more challenging.

In "Child of Manhattan", https://youtu.be/GYsEkQab37Y?t=1870 at
around time 31:10, the suave gentleman slyly switches his piano into
'play' to make the young lady susceptible to his wooing, and it works.
I'd like to know where to find a girl like that nowadays!

But anyway, the part where the piano is in view is very slight. The
only piano I ever saw that might have looked like the one in the film
was a Gulbransen grand, but there might be enough detail there for
someone who has looked at lots of pianos to detect an identifying
feature. What say you?
