Electric Motor For Roll Inspection Spoolbox
By Bob Conant

This is in response to David Krall's request for a small variable speed
electric motor to power a spoolbox roll inspector. A number of years
ago at an auction I bought a roll inspection table. It was made from
the transmission and roll chucks from a defunct player piano.

For the drive motor, the "craftsman" used a complete head from an old
kitchen Mixmaster. A drive sprocket is chucked into the square drive
on the mixer head and powers the transmission. The table is about 5
feet long, so the rewind is powered by a 4-foot section of ladder chain.
I bought the unit not only for its function but also for its completely
cobbled appearance!
