Seek Rolls by Pianist Nicolas Colangelo
By David Lewis

I am researching Frankie Carle for a radio tribute. Carle's primary
piano teacher was his uncle, Nicolas Colangelo, who also led a society
band Carle played in from 1920-22.

Colangelo was well known in New England as a concert style pianist.
I have no evidence he ever made rolls, and am certain he never made
phono records. I also have no idea if he may have made them under a
pseudonym. However, as with any pianist of reputation in the 'teens
and 'twenties, there's always a possibility that rolls may have been
made. I'm sending out a cattle call to see if anyone might have run
into his name, or something like it, on rolls from that period.

Thank you,

Dave Lewis
