Player Piano Repair Rates
By Roger Hughes

Reference John W. Miller's post on player piano repair rates.

What difference does it make? If both technicians get the job
done correctly, you have _saved_ money. Would you rather have an
inexperienced person (cheap $$) work on your piano, and damage
something, and then you have to pay 3 times over to have the repairs
re-done right?

I should think that the majority of piano technicians are highly
skilled, very intelligent, and basically honest. If the technician
refers to a technical manual before doing the repair, it only
shows that he has the sense not to rush into the job without some
forethought. I would rather have the peace of mind knowing that a
technician with the proper skills, training, and tools is repairing
my piano.

I have always subscribed to these two ideas:

1. "A laborer is worthy of his hire", and
2. "The quality of the repair is remembered long after
    the cost is forgotten" .

Just my 2 cents worth --
