Operators Player Piano of Madison, Alabama
By Ferdinand Pointer

Hello MMD. I am wondering if anyone out there knows anything about
a modern built-up nickelodeon from the 1970's or 80's with the name
"Operators Player Piano" of Madison, Alabama.

It is built upon an Aeolian spinet player. There is a tall top
cabinet with glass doors enclosing an accordion, xylophone, wood block,
triangle, tambourine and drums. Under the keyboard in the bottom is an
'O' roll frame behind glass. This is not the easiest place to change
rolls.

What I want to know is how the top can be removed for servicing of the
piano. I could find no junction blocks for the upper tubing to the
instruments and I didn't see a way to remove the top unit. I ended up
tuning in the slot between the top and hammers with about four inches
of horizontal space in which to move the tuning hammer.

The owner bought it at auction and had no information at all about this
unit. They were assured it worked perfectly, which it didn't. Now I
am going to service another one of these instruments and would like to
know more about it before I go 250 miles away. Again they tell me it
was bought at auction and there is no paperwork at all and they were
told it works fine.

"It just needs tuning", but they haven't tried it out yet. Any
information will be greatly appreciated.
