Hello all,  I have been reading with interest the ongoing debate about
the carousel organ at Ontario Beach Park.  Instead of suggesting
"fixes" for the problem, since I have never been there, I will cite an
example closer to home.  Mr. Bill Finch had the right idea: the organ
is not too loud, it simply is not playing the type of music the
employees like.

If the employees are high school students, then there is your problem
right there.  They would rather be listening to whatever they like to
hear.  Some of my friends at my high school like something called
"Hard-Core".  I don't care for it, and they don't always care for the
stuff I listen to, mainly everything from classical and ragtime through
1960's and 70's rock; however, since we are in the high school band,
we both have a greater tolerance for different types of music.

My suggestion: have the park hire high school students who are in the
band, and have an older supervisor admonish them that it is a carousel
organ and is meant to play music for listening while riding a carousel,
not while riding around in a lowered truck with an 800-watt sound system!
I think they will get the idea, and the MIDI system will also allow the
organ to play some newer types of music such as country and the Beatles.
