Loud Band Organs Just Need Maintenance
By Alan Erb

There has been some discussion relating to band organ volume lately
and many good points have been made.

I would add another, and that is that many band organs I have heard --
I would say most -- are not properly maintained. It doesn't take much,
but a couple pipes, particularly reed pipes which are not in tune and
working properly, makes an organ hard for me to listen to for any
period. This, I suspect, may translate as "too loud" for some people.

Organs must be treated so as to make sure there are no ducks, geese,
car horns, or screecher monkeys in there.

thanks
Alan Erb
