I finally got my calliope running except for a problem with the
rewind mechanism which I think I can fix.  However, as I knew to
start with, this thing is L-O-U-D!  I've had it out in public a few
times but notice that my audience disappears quickly.  No one has
offered money to get me to move yet, although I think that is coming.

Somewhere in my stumbling through the rebuilding I ran across a picture
showing what I think was a Tangley with a shield of glass or Plexiglas
surrounding the whistles to attenuate the sound.  I believe the unit
was with a merry-go-round or Ferris wheel.

I would like to find out anything possible on this or others similar
to get a starting place for my design.  I think I will start out with
1/2-inch-thick sheet-rock and measure the sound reduction and then go
from there with other materials until I can get the sound level down
10 or 15 decibels.  Thanks very much in advance.
